The Lake Clarity Crediting Program (Crediting Program) motivates effective actions to improve Lake Tahoe clarity by establishing a system that connects on-the-ground actions to achieving the milestones set by the Lake Tahoe TMDL. The Crediting Program quantifies and tracks pollutant controls implemented to reduce the load of fine sediment particles, nitrogen and phosphorus from urban stormwater and pairs load reduction estimates with roadway and treatment and parcel BMP inspection methods and an internet-based accounting system.
Results from Crediting Program implementation are available on the Urban Uplands Results page.
Stormwater Tools
The comprehensive internet-based accounting system to track and manage Lake Clarity Crediting Program information. The SW Tools Reference Manual provides guidance and instruction for using the site and conducting road and treatment BMP condition assessments.
Lake Clarity Crediting Program Handbook - Version 2.2
Establishes Urban Implementers' annual process to 1) consistently estimate expected load reductions, 2) register or document the pollutant controls and conditions that are expected to result in the estimated load reductions, 3) inspect on-the-ground conditions to verify the conditions used to estimate load reductions are being maintained, and 4) declare the credits to demonstrate compliance with permits and agreements.
Pollutant Load Reduction Model (PLRM) - Version 2.1
A hydrologic and pollutant load generation model that estimates annual average storm water pollutant loads for Tahoe Basin urban lands. The tool is used to quantify pollutant load reductions achieved through implementing pollutant controls and stormwater treatment best management practices (BMPs) at a catchment scale.
